Year 9s who chose the Criminology elective have been studying the nature of crime in Australia and the different approaches to understanding criminal behaviour. Understanding what makes someone a criminal and criminal profiling can help predict and prevent future crimes. Students covered topics including: the causes of crime, the major methods for measuring crime, crime prevention and the possibilities for rehabilitation. They also tackled tricky topics such as nature vs nurture, the making of a serial killer and what makes a victim and what factors can prevent crime.
