Australian Girls Choir visit to HGC this Thursday, May 30.

The Australian Girls Choir will be launching a new venue in Greensborough in July 2019! They will be visiting Hazel Glen College in Week 6 of Term 2 to conduct a performing arts assessment workshop with any interested girls from Prep – Year 4. The 30 minute workshops are fun and non-competitive and give girls the opportunity to experience the sorts of activities they offer.

The AGC has developed a reputation as one of the country’s leading performing arts organisations, offering training in singing, dancing and performing for girls aged 5 to 18. They have 6000 girls participating in classes across Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. For more than 30 years, teachers and parents alike have seen the benefits of participation in the performing arts education activities provided at the Australian Girls Choir (AGC), which complement their school education. Parents of choristers often comment on the amazing impact AGC classes have on their daughters’ confidence, teamwork and presentation skills.

Because the benefits of singing in a choir go far beyond the stage, the AGC offers all singers, regardless of their assessment outcome a chance to join their classes. They are an inclusive organisation.

Depending on the number of respondents, there will be one or two workshops for HGC Junior School Girls on Thursday, May 30. Parents are asked to return the permission slip to the school if their daughter is interested in participating in the workshop. This way, we only run the workshop with the girls who are genuinely interested, and any disruption to classes is minimised.

On the day, interested girls will participate in a workshop with one of the experienced AGC tutors, involving simple rhythm, pitch and movement activities and games. Following the workshop, they will send a personalised written report to the parents of each girl who participated.
