As we approach the end of 2019, there are many things our students have experienced and achieved in Senior School, and so many things to celebrate! It is important to remember that success looks different to everyone and comes in many shapes and forms; whether it be students working hard to achieve their desired results, participating in a program or event, joining a club, building resilience to tackle a fear, receiving an award, making an athletics team, making new friends or being successful in a school role or part-time employment – these are all worth celebrating, no matter how big or small!!!
It is also important for our students to take the time to reflect on the year that is coming to an end, to see how far they have come; the lessons they have learned and how much they have grown as young adults. It’s often not until we do this that we see how much we have actually achieved!

In regards to careers and pathways for 2019, our students have participated in a variety of events and activities, including career expos, industry sessions, mock interviews, work experience, Morrisby online career assessments, engineering workshops at University of Melbourne, and so much more! We hope these experiences have helped to spark interest in, and ideas for, future pathways and helped to prepare them for their future career journey.

With that in mind, 2020 is an exciting year for HGC, as we see our first cohort of Year 12 students graduate! It will be a pivotal year for our Year 12 students as they prepare for their transition from school into their next chapter; whether that be into further study or employment.

For some, this will bring great excitement (and possibly even relief!) and for some, uncertainty or mixed emotions. What we do know is that completing Year 12 provides many benefits to preparing for future pathways, and is favoured by employers compared to those who have not completed Year 12. So with that in mind, we wish HGC’s inaugural Year 12 the very best of luck for 2020, and we look forward to helping you along your journey to future success.
