Throughout the year in STEAM, Year 4 students have been learning all about computer code. Coding is a fantastic way to engage students in mathematical and computational thinking as well as a unique way to express creativity. To challenge them, we asked them to design, plan and create their own computer game using a visual coding app called Hopscotch.
To celebrate their learning, the students presented their games at HGC GameCon in Week 9. Parents, teachers and other students were given a chance to play the games the Year 4s made, ask questions and marvel in what they created. All students should be immensely proud of what they have achieved in STEAM this year and I have no doubt we could very well have the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates amongst us.
