Year 5 HGC students had the time of their lives exploring nature, going on a giant swing, conquering a ropes course, learning archery and gold panning. At camp, the students were encouraged to take small steps out of their comfort zones, to make new friends and to learn new things about themselves. As a result, their resilience grew exponentially.
The teachers unanimously agreed that the best part of the camp was forging stronger bonds with the students in their care. Being with the students in a less formal setting helped teachers understand new dimensions of our student’s unique personalities.
On the last evening, Year 5 students celebrated with a traditional bush dance and starlight nature walk, ending with a mellow sing-along around the campfire. It was a magical end to the day. Our students learnt about traditional Australian bush culture and history.
