From the Middle School – Week 9, Term 3, 2017

Welcome to this weeks edition of enews.

I would like to start by focusing on some important dates to keep in your diaries as we quickly come to the end of the term.

Parent / Teacher interviews will be held next Tuesday 12th September between 12pm and 8pm. Please note that students will only be required to attend school during their interview time. You are able to book your interview times through Compass.

The Colleges House program continues to grow in strength. We have already held our Athletics and Cross Country carnivals and had great student participation and parent support. Our next House carnival is the Performing Arts. This is being held next Thursday 14th September. The students will use Period 1 and 2 to complete their final rehearsals. Their final performances will take place in the gym during period 3 and 4 (11.15 to 1.15). Each house has been working so hard this term to put together a short performance based on a theme around Musicals. Good luck to all Houses again. We hope to see many parents in the gym supporting this brilliant House event.

Footy Day is being held on the second last Thursday of the term (Thursday 21st September). All students are encouraged to dress in clothes supporting their fiootball code. We love seeing all codes represnting Students are also asked to bring a gold coin donation to go towards the purchasing of footy goal posts for our oval.

I would like to remind all parents that we request our students stay off their mobile phones and any social media forums while at school. We understand students have access to Mobile phones but ask they do not make contact with family members during the day. If parents need to be contacted for any reason, the College will make this contact. Thank you for your understanding and continued support in the use of mobile phones.

Finally, Hazel Glen College values your child’s learning being uninterrupted and is constantly taking all actions to ensure as little disruptions to class as possible. One of our biggest distractions is the collection of students during class time. In order to minimise these distractions, we are asking parents to only collect their students during Recess (between 10.45am and 11.15am) or Lunchtime (1.15pm and 2pm). Again, we appreciate your support in ensuring learning is the highest priority at the College.
