From the Middle School – Week 6, Term 3, 2017

Hi and welcome to our Week 6 edition of the Middle School eNews.  This week I would like to celebrate the amazing opportunities continuing to be offered around our College.

I would like to start with lasts weeks National Science Week.  Science is extremely important in everyday life and a focus here at the College because there is not one aspect of daily living that science has not made easier, faster or safer.  To help us celebrate National Science Week, our Science Department led by Lorraine Watson organised a Tick, Tick Boom incursion.  Some of the activities the students were involved in included making elephant toothpaste, a fireball, hydrogen bang, hovercraft, rocket launcher and much more. The incursion was described as ‘simply awesome’.  Thanks to the Science team for a great week and for helping us celebrate such an important part of our curriculum.

This week is Literacy week.  To help celebrate, our teachers have organised exciting activities in their classrooms and during lunchtimes throughout the week.  Reading, writing, creating and answering riddles have been highlights.  Our Book Fair will also be set up in the Junior School.  We encourage all families to visit the fair and buy a book to support our College and the importance of reading. Thanks to all our Middle School students for getting into the spirit on Friday and proving that we are never too old to get dressed up.  Thanks also to our English Domain for their hard work in organising the celebration of Literacy at Hazel Glen College.

An amazing achievement girls. We certainly wish you luck at state level.

I am continually impressed with the dedication of our staff to commit their time in providing extra opportunities for the students at our College. Mr Milne and Mr Mascitti are going to talk about another exciting event, the Great Victorian Bike Ride.

We are looking forward to sharing breakfast with the Fathers in our College next Wednesday 30th September to help celebrate the upcoming Father’s Day.  This is a valued tradition at our College so come along for a pancake or 2 from 7am in our College cafeteria.

Well, another exciting term here at Hazel Glen and so much on offer.

Thanks for watching and have a great week.
