Welcome to this week’s eNews, I’m Anthea Jamieson, Assistant Principal of the Hazel Glen College Junior School.
Last week we celebrated our love of books in Book Week. The students participated in many fun activities organized by our wonderful teachers and shared the shortlisted books for the Book of the Year awards. The week finished with our annual parade where our students and staff dressed as their favourite book characters. Thank you so much to our very creative and hard working parents who worked with their children on some of the most amazing costumes I’ve ever seen. They just keep getting better and better every year. Look for the photos here.
Thank you to everyone who purchased from our Book Fair. We sold over $12,000 of books which is simply outstanding. This means that we will get a percentage of this to buy some big books and other resources from Scholastic for our students to use in the library and in their classrooms. Keep an eye out for some photos of these in the coming months. I would like to thank Megan Fisher for all of her organization in the running of the book fair and also a very big thank you to all of the parents and teachers who volunteered to help out. We just couldn’t do it without you.
We farewelled our Year 3s off to Lady Northcote camp. They were so excited as they were getting on to the buses. I had the opportunity with Mr Furze to visit the students on their second day. It’s a great camp and the children always have wonderful time and come back with lots to share with their family.
It was a fantastic sight on Wednesday morning when our dads joined us for our annual Father’s Day breakfast of pancakes in the cafeteria. It was very special to see our students enjoying this time with their dads and we thank you for taking the time to be a part of this special occasion, we understand that it can take a bit of juggling with work commitments and we appreciate the effort.
We wish all of our dads and grandpas a very happy Father’s Day on Sunday and hope you enjoy your lovingly chosen gift from our father’s day stall.
Hope your week is great. Bye for now.
