Exciting new changes to our local roads are coming…

HGC is lucky to be situated in a beautiful area with lots of exciting developments taking place within our College and our local community.
Some of these developments include an extra lane being added between Plenty Road and Yan Yean Road, the installation of new traffic lights, the upgrade of intersections and a new bridge being constructed over Plenty River.

Construction is predicted to start on the Northern Roads Upgrade from mid-to-late 2020. We’ll know more about the exact timing of the Bridge Inn Road Upgrade early next year.

New traffic lights near Ivanhoe Grammar School will include a signalised pedestrian crossing, helping to increase safety for motorists and pedestrians on Bridge Inn Road.

Safety barriers will be installed to reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes. This will mean a number of right turns will be removed and some drivers may need to make a small detour to reach their destination, with U-turn opportunities provided at intersections.

Impacts on the local environment and heritage sites will be kept to a minimum while the safer and more accessible roads are being constructed. The number of trees that need to be removed will be kept to a minimum and where vegetation impacts cannot be avoided, these impacts will be offset through the propagation of more trees in the area.
